OEM shocks or bilsteins?

I need shocks for my daily driver 1999 ranger 2wd. I've been told the bilsteins are the best and I'd never have to replace them but I'm not exactly doing any off-roading so are the OEM shocks good enough or should I upgrade.

Go for bilstein. You won't regret it. 4600 series are awesome on the street.

It's just hard for me to spend that much money on this truck especially since I only pay $2500 for it. How would these ranchos do?? https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,1999,ranger,3.0l+v6,1446380,suspension,shock+ absorber,7556

I put a set of KYB shocks on my FX/4. 110 bucks after a 40 dollar rebate. The difference was like night and day. Bilstiens are awesome shocks, but I gotta tell you, as much as I love my truck, putting that kind of money into it for shocks just does not make financial sense to me. At the end of the day, it is a 12 year old rig with 152K on the clock. At any given moment, something could break, fail or go missing and repair costs even at do it yourself can be expensive.

In the end, the choice is yours.
