Parking brake bracket for lift kit?

Hey guys I had my parking brake cable snap on me, (the first cable that runs from the pedal under the vehicle). Well a while ago I bought a new cable and attempted to reinstall it but couldnt get it hooked as i couldnt seem to get it to reach, so i just left it. Anyway, my truck is at my mechanics having other work done so I asked him if he could hook it up for me. Well he ended up calling and said that with the body lift on the truck there was supposed to be a bracket used that never was apparently and said he's gonna have to make one and weld it on there. Gonna charge me 80 bucks for this!!

So im just wondering if any of you guys had to do this or is this not necessary?

I didn't need to put mine in. It's very rare I use my parking brake tho so it wasn't a big deal

You may need it you may not. If he can just hook the new cable up tell him to do it

Hmm well if I had a working parking brake before it broke, does that mean i dont really need it or could it be the reason why my cable snapped in the first place? Sorry I just dont understand what the bracket does.

Thanks for the advice .
