Need Help With Balljoints On 2000 4wd
ok, so i gotta get new lower ball joints and im pretty sure now there not cast in (2000 4wd 4.0l), was looking at the uppers and everyone says the tops require the new control arm, so i went looking around jik i decide to do all at once(117000miles), and found that moogs lh and rh hands are completely different (one peice/two peice). is this really how it is? (someone please stop me if they know for sure mine could be pressed out)

on the 2003 the uppers are one piece on either side but i think the front suspention is different for your year and zach is correct you will need a balljoint press and seperator... these can be rented or loaned from most auto parts stores

My truck is a 2003 4x4 and it has one piece UCAs on both sides. Apparently Ford decided that the caster split adjustment was not necessary and it saved them some money because the simpler one piece part is cheaper to make.
I believe that the above applies only to torsion bar IFS as used on 4x4, Trailhead and Edge. AFAIK, 4x2 XL and XLT have had one piece UCAs on both sides for all 98+ Rangers (coil spring IFS).

Bob..
I replaced my factory 2 piece with a 1 piece setup. We laid the 2 piece arm ontop of the 1 piece.. it was basically the same in nconformance. It DID require a camber/caster kit ( 55$ ) but this makes alignments more easy/correct anyway.
My truck is an 03 ordered in 02. I also had the timing chain problem as I had the old tensioners.

I'm not the topic police but since you are new here.
I just wanted to say If you post with a better thread title you are much more likely
to get help. Something like "Need Help with Balljoints on my 2000 Ranger"
