The front went on fine, and it's PERFECT. It looks grand, and I couldn't be happier. It's all over the road, though. I need to get an alignment.

The problem is in the rear with the flip kit.

I measured and guessed that I will get 5.5" of drop out of it. That will make the rear lower than the front. I know I have some other shackles, but I don't know how to lift it when I just dropped it.

So for right now, I left the rear un-droped [it's only 2" higher than the front] and doesn't look half bad. I'll get some pics up tomorrow, I couldn't get any decent one's tonight.

I don't know what to do, suggestions?

 

um um um just take out one leaf? maybe might ride like crap though..probly..

I don't want to run on only two leaf's, Zach. Not a good plan or idea. I have some shackles that came with the other leafs that I wound up NOT using, but they are identical to the stock's. I think I am stuck until I figure it out... but it's definately too low if I would be to install it.

 

The phrase "remove a leaf" makes me cringe...

I would highly advise against this procedure.

hmm idk just thought though explorer SPORTS only have 1 leaf..maybe you try it idk i am on a wired path with my thoughts at the moment i think

 

you realize...splashes..are a XLT leaf back with one leaf missing...just a FYI...btw ADAM swing down to a local junk yard there is tons down here with XLT's btw

 

lower it in the back and see if u like it it'll handle better and wil probally look good.... thats how my truck was b4 i bagged it .... i say throw the rest of the lowering kit and see if u like it .... it's only 4 bolts to pull them back out it u don't like it so i say got for it and post some pics of it and take a vote

 

btw btw... allow me to rephrase. Unless you are 100% positive you can remove a leaf from a leaf pack correctly and end up with a finished product that is as structurally sound as it was before... I would highly advise against attempting this procedure.

I personally would steer clear from this route.

 

acully made me think a min this MIGHT work. ok what leaf is missing on the XLT pack check it then check the splash. IF you have an extra one that is not the same lenth as one of the other on the splash back is say longer or shorter try adding it to the splash pack it in theory should work. just an idea

 

right jim bob... one of my farthers leafs on his F-150 cracked and broke i got a half pack and added back the leaf to his pack perfectly fine he put oh hmm 40 thousand miles on it so far its not a hard presedure....alot of people here arnt complete morons here bro..

adam most of the time when you use a flip kit, you use a lift shackle or hangar to bring it back up, thats probably what youre going to have to do

 

I know, Bob -- but I don't know what the lift shackle is doing, how it's used, or if it has to be longer than stock. The one's I have look to be stock length.

Zach, XLT's have 3 leafs, just like the Splash'es.

 

you will need longer than stock shackles to lift, the ratio of extra length to total lift is 2:1, so if you get shackles 2 inches longer, it will lift one inch. on my explorer i just used universal lift shackles from autozone, not sure if it will work on your ranger. keep in mind you may need pinion shims. definately the best way to go though to keep the ride quality
