A 97 4wd uses TTB(Twin Traction Beam) suspension. Basically its I beams but one beam houses the diff.

Rangers got the d35 TTB (4wd) and TIB (2wd) up til 98

f-150's also got the same setup in a d50 TTB (4wd) and TIB (2wd) up til 97.

You do have a form of IFS up front, but generally it's not called an IFS...IFS is usually used with twin a-arm type suspensions.

What the others said is right, you have a Twin Traction Beam type of IFS.
