Hey guys, I'm looking to give my ranger a overhaul in the suspension department because my current T-bars and leafs are sagged all to he**. I was thinking about doing the fox coil-over conversion for the fronts. Standard height as I only have a body lift. But for the rear I'm kind of at a loss, do I go with some stock replacment leafs and shocks and get a shackle? or Do I have to get taller ones to match the coil over swap up front?

Well the coil overs shouldn't lift the truck at all unless you get longer spring to do so. For the rear you can get a set of new leafs (expensive) or do an AAL or a shackle on your current springs to bring them back to their original non-sagged height. If you do the coil overs you could do an inch or two over stock like a t-bar crank them do a shackle in the back to match.

 

As far as shocks go with bilstein or fox coilovers and do bilstein shocks in the rear. You'll thank me later...

 

Awesome, I was hopeing the coil-overs would give me a little bump up like a t-bar crank. I hope I can find a good deal on leafs because mine are almost flat. So the shackle should keep it pretty even with the front? I would like the rear to be atleast level if not slightly higher. The bilsteins sound like a great idea. I havn't had the chance to ride in a truck with bilsteins, only cars lol. But over all Im looking for a smoother ride, not like a car or anything, but better than the brick it is now lol.

 

So guys, another question... Where is the best place to find some stock rear leafs?

 

You can effectively level your truck by adjusting Ride height via the preloaded collar on coil overs. You'll basically be adjusting within the same limits as a torsion bar crank. Also do your self another favour and get 64" chevy leafs. They ride far better, flex better, and can give you retarded travel if you set them up flipped shackle. It shouldn't cost more than new ranger leafs out back.
