Quick Q' regarding prekey

Hey, just curious, I'm running a superlift on my 08 right now, don't have the superlift driveshaft yet, ordered it a couple weeks ago, hopefully see it in a couple weeks.
I'm planning to do a prekey mod and shackles on the rear. Shackles are already here, 06 keys should be here in a couple days. So my question is: Should I wait and do the prekey after I have d/s to be installed. I'm just wondering if any angles in the susp (main concern bein the driveshaft) would change dramatically and cause an earlier failure of stock d/s. I'd hate to prematurely blow it out in a matter of weeks or days before the new one arrives. Thanks.

You'll be fine to go ahead and install the new keys. The angle of the drive shaft changed from the front drop brackets of the Superlift, while the transfer case remained in the same location. The keys just re-index your t-bars.

I have had my stock drive shaft in for 20000 miles with the Superlift and it is just now getting to the point where it really needs to be replaced.

thanks, good to know how far your stock driveshaft has gone so far. Since doin the lift ive taken it pretty easy on my truck and I've put 20,000KM on mine so far. I just hope they aren't on backorder or somethin for like 3 months :(.

I think I'm going to have one built sooner or later as opposed to buying the Superlift one. I had a rear drive shaft built a while ago for $300 so I would imagine a front would be similar.

I would suspect that ford would want to sell you a replacement, not a custom one that does away with the crappy double cardon design. I would look around for places that build custom drive shafts and see if you can find one.

The first thing that I noticed on mine was that rubber boot that is on the transfer case end of the shaft tore and flung grease all over the place. That was a while ago and now you can feel a little play in it if you push back and forth perpendicular to the shaft.

Sean....you'll have no issues with the prekey mod. I just did it this past weekend to that Grabber Orange bodylifted '08 I was telling you about. She started out with semi-cranked bars in the beginning, and I got a total of 1.5" out of it with the same amount of crank on the adjustment bolt.

Superlift or not, Prekey mod will work.
