Quick Question. BL/Leveling Coils 2000 2wd

Ok so my left front coil is completely shot. My truck leans like a cholo.

The mechanic I took my truck to for Ujoints, he said the coil was bad. but he would have to order them special.

SO.

I really want to lift the truck up a bit. like 2 inches or so nothing major because its a 2wd.

Was looking into body lifts. But Rough Country Offers 1.5in Leveling Coils for rangers 83-97. Now would they work for my 2000? Because leveling it out that much would probably be fine by me and I wouldn't need to body lift it.

Can someone just let me know if they would fit? OR if anyone else has something very similar to work...

http://www.roughcountry.com/ford_2wd..._leveling.html

thanks alot guys!

I think the coils are different sizes and also I believe the gen 3's are longer stock then the gen 4's. (could be wrong on that last part) They have them on ebay cheaper anyway.

Remember, when lifting a truck 1"=1.5" of total lift.
I believe Coils from 83-97 won't fit, its not that they're too long, they might be a little wide too. you'd have to measure to be sure.

Gen 3

Wire Diameter - 0.687
Load Height - 11.50
Approx Free Height - 13.47

I can't find the gen 4 info. Maybe someone can measure.

I like that ebay link even more.

with them 2.5 lift springs. would that stretch my shocks in the front too much? any possible damage from it? i just put new monroe sensatracs on the front just 4 months ago. would hate to ruin them because of it.

Nope, I'd just buy the Body lift.

I bought coils from an f150 that gave me 1" lift and then I bought rancho shocks from a silverado(don't remember the year) and threw 33's on. It rub but I didn't care. After that I got a spindle lift. I was in the whole suspension for under $500 but I got discounts and good deals.

Do you remember what F150 you got those coils from? When my tires wear out I am gonna go 32's and don't need to lift it that much more.

I wanna say these will work.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pair-...#ht_1545wt_941

But honestly I wouldn't recommend them if you can get ranger lift coils. Remember the spring rate for the f150 is much higher then the ranger. So not only is it a bigger coil it is a more 'heavy duty' coil.

Steps required to replacing coils? Difficulty?

Thinking about just getting the springs adam posted

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-11...item4aa864fa03

and then a set of ranchos 2.5in lift

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RAN-RS5374/

in my head this all works. but theres probably something MAJOR i'm not seeing.

so someone chime in and talk some sense into me before i go berserk watching everyone else lift their trucks and im stuck =[

i know this will probably put my front end higher than my rear but atm that i can deal with maybe aal or a block later? idk. im just seriously itching for lift.

Might be a silly question, but on the 98+ 2WD Rangers, are the shocks any different other than length than the off road 4WD trucks? If they aren't, just getting stock replacements from the local parts store may be an option.

Do yours have the bottom tab with two bolts holding them to the control arm, then the rod going up through the shock tower?

Then the 4WD shocks might work. You might want to go to a NAPA, Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. and ask them to pull out a stock 2WD and a stock 4WD shock and compare them. I suspect they only differ by length (and perhaps minor valving).

the shocks arent the deal its just that i have to replace the coils. i just replaced the shocks. im just wondering if its worth it to just get slightly longer coils (to even out or slightly lift), and then inturn get longer shocks. im just up in the air about it because suspension knowledge im at a loss.
