RE: Prekeyed + AAL, new shocks?

Hey all,

Last summer I prekeyed and did an AAL to my 2010 sport 4x4. My shocks are pretty well gone I think, rides real rough now compared to how it was after the AAL and prekey. I gained about 2" front and back.

My question is will stock length shocks be okay for the front and rear or will I need longer shocks now? I've been searching all over but I feel like my question is pretty specific which is why I've yet to find an answer.

Also, I'm not sure which shocks to go with; the bilstein HD 5100's or the Ranch RS9000XL's. Both seem to be pretty good and reviews are great for both. I live in Ontario, I drive through tons of snow and our roads are salted like crazy so maybe the RS9000XL's adjuster won't last?

This summer I'm planning a 3" BL and I will need shocks sooner than later. Thanks for the help!
Frank

You'll need a shock a couple inches longer to compensate that extra travel or you will just go through them quicker. At least, that's what I was told when I did mine. Search my name, I did the same on an 08 and I'm also from ontario. Down in Windsor.

Did you get longer shocks up front as well as in the rear? What length did you go with?

Longer shocks in the front will cause the CV's to bind right?

yea, will droop out too far. And can also bottom out the shock instead of the bump stop.

I can't find your post anywhere. I think I looked through all 200 pages of your post history :(

What length rear shocks should I get with 2" of lift in the rear?
