bilstein socks

i see you guys always mention bilsteins when it comes to shocks. so out of curiosity i thought i would see how much the 5100s cost... $100 a peice! my pro comps are half that! is it worth it? why are they so much? im interested in getting some but i mean theres just other stuff i can do with $400 while going with a cheapo shock like i did when i got these pro comps. which arent great but arent horrible. but i was just wondering....

I didn't know bilstein made socks! lol

The 5100's for my F150 were around $380 for all four, and definitely worth it.

I paid $100 new on Craigslist for the set of 4 factory Level II Bilsteins on my truck. They ride so much better than anything else that I have run. Why? I have no idea, but I'm assuming Ford/Bilstein just did more work on the valving than a factory or cheap replacement shock.

I just like the way they are valved. I had Bilstein HD's on my 98 ranger and liked them too. They seemed to hold up better than friends with cheaper pro-comp's, rubicon express, etc.
The ride is still firm, but you shouldn't get any repetitive bounce when you hit bumps and whatnot, they handling ends up being much better because they help keep the tires on the road.

The best my ranger ever handled was with new Bilsteins and disconnected sway bars. Silky smooth
