Later Rangers have wider springs. My daughter's '98 has narrower springs then my 2002.

I'd check on that closely before buying.

if they do fit it sounds like i either go with 4" no blocks and chevy shackle

or 6" no blocks and stock shackle.

which one is probably a better setup ? i'm thinking back to stock shackle and the 6" spring cuz it will have better pinion angle, ride a little softer , less chance of spring fatigue?

But i did already pay for a chevy shackle which looks alot stronger and i'll also have a little adjustment in the shackle

 

Okay, with a that back and forth I got a little confused. So I guess I will just ask you guys straight forward. I have the RCD 5.5" lift and right now I have my truck sitting level (within .5") so if I were to do something with the rear springs what would I do? I just want to get rid of the shackles and try for a better ride. What will give me that?

 

i don't doubt ya, but that sounds like someone else put different springs on her truck......all Rangers have 2.5" wide springs....the only difference in 2wd and 4wd rear springs is the lift block for the height...

there is a member on here (can't remember his name) that put the Skyjacker lift springs on his '99 Ranger......

 

My daughter's is 2WD, if it makes a difference. They were definitely narrower.

It also explains the "chevy shackle dilemma" where some find they fit, and some find them too large...

 

shouldnt make a difference...............i still think that someone put different springs on that...

 

i just measured my springs and they are 2 1/2 inches wide i can only guess that older 2wd trucks may have smaller springs like Candice's truck does

 

no because all '97 and older for sure have 2.5" springs....
