Steering Stabilizer Question

Hey guys. I have a question. Anyone ever heard of putting steering stabilizers on a 2004 Ranger Edge?? It's got the rack and pinon steering. Nobody makes a stabilizer for the 2004 Ranger. So it's gotta be a custom job. The shop was telling me maybe a stablizer on both sides of the rack and pinion. Anybody got stabilizers on rack and pinion???? How'd you do it?? Thx.

Yea, the shop thought they could do it. It was just the task of thinking up a design.

they make em for the older(83?-97) gearbox trucks like mine, theres no need for one on a truck with a rack and pinion, it would be pointless, unless your going for looks, i think it would stress the rack out and make it prematurely fail but i have no idea.

the rack and pinion trucks found in the '98+ Rangers don't need a steering stabilizer.....the rack and pinion acts as its steering stabilizer.......

Evan you can put them on IFS.....they make them for '97 and older Rangers which has a form of IFS....

procomp makes them for f150's, but there is no need as the RP doesnt need it.

Well, i think it need it. I don't have the control i used to have. My steering wheel shakes too. So i though thata stabilizer would fix the problem.

a stabilizer will only mask the problem.....fix the source of the problem.....more than likely you have either bad ends or ball joints........

This thread has Ben dead since 2007 but I have a question about if everything is good. (I admit I haven't checked the rack it self out yet). But the truck still seems more sensitive than it used to. Where do you look to improve the strength at? A stronger power stearing pump. Maby a difrent rack. I'm about to finish my lift and I want to improve handling not fight it when it's windy out I wanted to put a stearing stabilizer on it but I agree it's pointless on a rack and pinion

I saw a picture on Google a long time ago of a ranger that had dual steering stabilizers on and ifs front. Each one attached to the outer tie rod end at a spot next to the inner tie rod. I wish i had looked more into it! But it's definitely gotta be a custom deal.
