i was looking at plain oe replacements and kyb gas-a-just. silverfox do you have the kyb's? or can anyone vouch for how the ride is? they sound to be a real good way to go.

Sorry to thread jack but I got a quick question. If you were to replace all four, do you have to match the front with the back? Will that make any difference if you got one brand for the front and another for the rear?

Yeap ive got them and i love them.I noticed a big differents in ride quality when i swaped out my stock shocks.Which only had 30k on them.Truck feels like a caddy on the highway nice and soft,But around town they are firm.

I put Bilsteins HD on my 2008 FX4 and I like them better than the Ranchos that came on the truck.

just bought the monroe sensa tracs $100 not bad i dont think for the best recommended ones.

now what is everyones easiest way to go about removal and installation?

i heard to jack it up to full extension. unbolt the top. and then the bottom. and then replace it.

father says just then should be able to shoot the new one right up there and bolt back down..

does that sound right?

in theory should be easy enough..

Put the new shocks on today..

took about an hour..

the ride is quite a bit better less travel forward/downward by the front end while braking and shifting.

the old shocks weren't "bad" they still took alot of pressure to retract but to extend back out they were quite slow.. but mostly they were rusty fairly bad...

now i will need to replace the front sway bar supports because the driver side one is cracked.

but thanks for your suggestions everyone!
