First off, I'll introduce my self, I'm David Nicholson. Allrite I know that there are already a lot of post about this but, I turned my torsion bars out now my camber is way out of wack. What can do if anything to correct this? Its wearing out my tires but the left front is worse than the other side. Is there anything I can do?

 

go get an alignment

 

I am planning on doing that, but I have been told that I cant change my camber. So I dont know what to do, and I got it aligned a while back but when I was going down the road straight the steering wheel was almost turned at a 45 degree angle, so I changed it back where it was myself.

 

You an change your camber....you're supposed to be able to change your camber. IF the shop can't get it close enough, you'll need cam essentrics aka cam bolts for the upper arms.

btw: wtf is an alignment shop doing giving you a crooked steering wheel??? is this due to cranking? well..cranking bars has nothng to do with steering, so..... no possible way cranking of the bars messed with steering wheel alignment.

 

Well, they said it was off already just a little bit, so I said go ahead and fix it, and they did "supposedly" but when I left the steering wheel was crooked as hell. And no I drove for a year with the bars cranked already. They told me there was nothing i could do about the camber? So where do I get these bolts at? Its eating through my tires, but one is worse than the other

 

I would go to another shop for sure. The obviosly have no idea what they are doing.

Appears they didn't do the usual test drive after the 'alignment'. Go to another shop. I know you're out the money for alignment initially....maybe they'll do it right when you take it back in and start raisin' hell! free redo should be in order...



Cam bolts....they are the bolts that bolt the upper control arm to the frame... What they do is give you an additional 3 degrees of adjustment. It's enough for a lifted truck, and enough for a slammed truck.

where is williamston nc by???? go to a different shop, i doubt you will need to change cam bolts for a t-bar crank thats alot.....

 

Williamston is about 20 minutes from greenville. Why do you ask? I know what yall are saying, buts its only one tire that is off alot (noticeably). I just want it straight before i buy another set of 800 dollar tires.

 

That crap that theyre telling you about the camber is total bs. Get some Cam Bolts and go in there and have everything straightend out before it gets any worse.

 

just curious as to how far from va, i know nothing about nc besides outerbanks and crap like that.....as for your truck go somewhere else and point it out to them before hand, try contacting offroad shops in your area and ask where they bring the trucks they lift or work on to get an alignment they will usually send you to a pretty reputable alignment shop......

 

Yeah I hear ya, Im probably going to get the bolts and put them on myself and get it aligned somewhere else. Any you guys ever go to Oregon Inlet? If you do let me know, I think it would be fun to get alot of rangers together one weekend.

And one more question about my truck, I stated earlier that only one tire is off on camber, do you suggest to just buy one kit and do the bad tire or go ahead and buy two kits and fix both of them.

 

id honestly not worry about buying the bolts, i really think its just a bad alignment job

 

You someone else could adjust the camber? How do you adjust it just as it is right now? I looked at it too and I dont see how it can be adjusted. And it is wearing the outside of the tire, not the inside like most I have seen. Whats up with that?

 

Anytime use raise or lower the front suspension you should always go and have the alignment checked and not wait till you toast your front tires.

There is no way to adjust camber from the factory. When I did an alignment on my truck I had to get the cam bolts. From the factory the bolts don't have a cam they just have a steel square block. This puts it at factory spec when at the factory. To do any other adjustments you need to install the cam bolt kit.

 

eh even with my superlift i could get my camber within stock specs and thats with my bars cranked all the way up and the stock bolts, i have the cam spacers but didnt bother with them......

 

I hit a drainage ditch in a feild going about 25 and mine got messed up. They replaced them when I went to make sure that I didn't knock somethin out of wack, which I did. But YES they can replace them. Where did you go? if need be come down toward my house. There are a few good shops there.
