Uh-oh...Spagheto...

Was under the truck today installing the new PA I got, see post in Tech/Elec.

And saw these few things,

I'm not worried about the crunch in the fiberglass, just has me wondering if I did it, or someone else..

Looks like an old break to me.

Here is where I get really worried, not knowing what I'm looking at, and what the functions of the devices are..

What we are looking at are the bronze colored rods.

DRIVER SIDE:

PASSENGER SIDE:

As you can see, one is shorter, or one is longer, then the other.

What are these things? What do they do? And is it normal?

The passenger side one just slides around up and down at the touch of a finger.

(I was greasing the underside before I realized that that wasn't some sort of mini-shock. )

Spaceeba, Thanks,

IN ADVANCE!

They are called Stabilizer (Sway) Bar Links. $10-$20 easy to replace.
Drivers side is correct, passenger side is FUBAR! (replace both)

Ok, thanks Rich.

What is their purpose on the vehicle?

And, what kind of problem could the above cause?

simple answer;
Controls body lean, you will get excessive body lean when cornering.
side note; serious off-roaders fab quick disconnects for them = more "flex"

Those don't even look like the stock ones... they look like a 1/2" bolt with a nut on the bottom!!!

Well.. I do corner to the right easier... and it does lean hell'of'alot when turning that right corner..

Guess I should check the rear ones aswell...

I keep finding sway bar links that are kinda angled, and don't look like the ones I have...

Check the auto store when I go out next...
