so i have noticed that the top of the drivers side rear tire is rubbing on the fender well. it rubs when i exit the parking lot at work. its a normal driveway but i do take ot at an angle because its short and u exit while still turning. it also rubs when offroading. it does not happen on the passanger side. it never happened when i got my tires it only started recently. what could it be? did u screw something up offroading? like a leaf spring, bed mount? than in advance for the info.

oh i have 265 75 R16 tires. they r not that big

ya def take some pics, im pretty sure that the driver side sits lower normally but it schouldnt be that messed up to rub that little tire.....

 

You'll want to give it a once over for loose U-bolts, bent shackles, bent spring leaf, bent axle tube, etc.

Another possibility could be the factory lift block. There is an indexing nub that engages a hole in the axle perch to properly position the axle. Although I've never seen it on a Ranger, some vehicles may shear that nub off during hard offroading and/or if the U-bolts are not tight enough.

Take a look at the relationship of the brake drum to its backing plate. A large gap there could indicate that the DS axle shaft has walked out of the housing. It is held in by a C-clip inside the diff carrier. Of course, this would only apply if it is rubbing on the outside of the tire.

 

Sounds like you need a suspension or body lift......LOL

 

after you figure out whats wrong get some duff traction bars it will help out holding the axle in the right place after...

well when you get more time we are going to need better pics than that, more pics of the rear end and the springs, stuff like that will help, it doesnt really look like its scuffing to bad so im still stumped.....

Thats weird, i have never seen it rub there before. Do you have some sort of weird offset on your wheels?

 

nothing that i know of. when i bought the truck it was as is and i havent done anything to the suspesion. im sure u f'ed something up. i want tro drop in the FX4 axle so il take a look at everything then.

 

How is it scrubbing there? when you hit bumps? Looks to me like it should only hit that if you were completely flexed out... that's weird...

 

it happens when i leave work. i take the driveway sideways cuz u dont have time to straighten outbefor u hit the treet. then at the bank it does it to. the is like a speed bump the a ditch that r close together. so the bump will push one tire up and the other will go in the ditch. ???? do u think its my ranchos? time for a lift

 

Yeah i found my old thread so i wouldnt have to start another one.

So the other day i was getting my tire changed and i noticed that my leaf springs are almost straight. The truck was on a lift that held up the back end by the axle tubes. So im guessing it was sitting at ride height with the full weight of the rear on the springs. Would that be the cause of my tire rubbing on the inner wheel well on the bed side? And with almost straight leaf springs, is it time for replacement? And what would cause them to go straight? My truck has stock suspension.

 

idk man i can see the old pics there all red X's but with my truck my leifs got straight and i put new ones in but it had 4 leifs instead of my old 3 leif pack and now the 4 is straight now and its only been maybe 4-5months when i replaced to the new ones.

but i put a chevy lowering shackel in place of the old stock shackel and i got and extra 2" on height in the rear of the truck, would be cheeper to try that then if u have to replace the springs

 

soudns like something is wrong with the leafs i would get 2 new packs and install them

 

Ill get the pics back up and ill take some new ones. I don't want to do the chevy shackel swap because i will hopefully selling soon.
