Nobody I called knows the answer to theses questions not even the local Ford dealer :(

What is the offset and back/rear spacing measurements for a 2004 Ranger "Edge" supercab 4wd that came with 16 x 7 rims as standard equipment.....

Any help would be appreciated !

 

7" width, +12mm offset and 4.5" backspacing on the factory wheels - all of them.

Bob, having absolutely NO idea about backspacing and offset could I use the following aftermarket 16 x 7 rim without running into trouble...

16 x7 , "0" offset , 4" backspacing

Compared to a factory Ranger wheel. this one would push the wheel/tire assemblies out only 1/2" while maintaining the stock rim width.

That in itself shouldn't cause you any trouble to speak of BUT if you also increase the tire width and/or diameter, you will be pushing the tire closer to a situation where it may rub.

explain backspacing..

 

Backspacing is the measurement from the innermost lip of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel. Measurement #5 in the diagram below.

 

so when people lift there trucks and get some more backspacing..what are they doin..adding like shems..like spacers?

More backspacing pushes the inside of the wheel inward. Less pushes it outward. If you look at the diagram above, you will see why. How much backspacing a wheel has is totally dependent on the wheel itself. The only way to get more is to change to a different wheel.

Sometimes, people will install wheels with too much backspacing, as is the case with many Mustang wheels when used on Rangers. To compensate, they might install spacers or adapters to push the wheel outward but that doesn't change the actual backspacing of the wheel itself.
