Hey i got a 2008 ranger xl with original tires at 52,XXX. What kinda tires would you recommend i get?. Anyone have a good winter set up for a 2wd in the Midwest? We get alot of snow in Minnesota. Was also wondering if anyone knows the the factory wheel dimensions for a 2008 XL model?

 

Canada = Winter so heres what i do.



Limited slip diff or a locker.

BFG (or similar) All terrain tires

Stock size for you is 225/70/15, buy 235/75/15's if you dont wanna go for a lift or anything. (wider=more surface area on ice/snow)


I dont use weight in the truck, makes things worse. Mainly because now you have to try and stop 3-400+lbs you added. Im ok with slow starts if i can stop faster. Most ppl just cant drive so they need weight. And yes theres a difference between operating an truck and driving it. :)


Take things slow, drive like its a drive test and you on ice. You'll be fine.

 

what he said, and dont cheap out on snow tires always better to get the pricey ones

 

i know you mentioned bfg's but do you think 31x10.5x15 are too big for a stock ranger 2.3?

 

It will be more of a dog but it will fit. You could regear or get an expo axle to fix the gear issue.
