285/75/16's Do Fit, Proof with Pictures!

Ok for all of you with the same question I had, here's the proof. My truck was purchased new in October 2005 and I tightened the torsion bars exactly one inch measuring from the center of the stock wheels. I just recently purchased the FX4/Edge Plus wheels and now have 285/75/16 Cooper Discovery's on them. They don't even rub, it comes within a 1/4 of an inch from the sway bar at full lock to the left. Although I'm sure if I was doing some hardcore offroading I'm sure it would rub the plastic/mesh thing over the shock tower on the passenger side. I do plan on tightening the torsion bars about another inch just to level it out. So here are the pictures I'm sure you have all been wanting.

I think it equates to a 32.8 x about a 11.4 or something like that.

Thanks for all the comments. About the 33x12.50, I think it would fit if I tightened my torsion bars a little more. Although I'm sure when I flex hard it would rub.

Old news man, we have had two other members successifly fit 285/75/16s.

a 33x12.50 seems like it rubs on the inner fender and flare. widest stock without rubbing seems a 11.5 (like the 285/75)...

It might be old news, but if you look around the forum a little, you will see that others seem to ask this question alot. So I posted an ALL-IN-ONE answer that will hopefully serve as an example to all Edge's, XLT 4x4's, FX4's, Sport 4x4's, Trailhead's and others and help them choose the right set of tires for them. Sorry for posting a topic about "old news."

4.0 I think, since i believe all 01+ XLT 4x4s have 4.0s

Mr. Special is correct, I do have a 4.0. It is the XLT 4x4 4.0 5 speed manual with 4.10 gears. I assume there is no need to regear and that the speedo is no more than 5mph off?

i am around the forum quite a bit...I know that a 11.5 wide tire will fit...I just wanted to ask him how far he was off. Just like a "particular situation". I know his might be different from mine, but I was just curious, he said he was off the swaybar by 1/4"...I was just wondering his thoughts.

I wanna trade rims/tires with him

yeah, moving from stock to 32.2" tires my spedo is only off by like ~4mph at highway speeds. One thing to note is that if you're keeping track of distance or MPG add 1 mile for every 10 to your calculation. So if your tripometer says 200miles, you actually went 220miles
