12.5 is the what? More width than a 10.5? Or height?

I've looked around, and can't seem to know what it is.

Can anyone help? I've read here that using a 15x8 rim with 33x10.5x15 is easier on the truck than using 15x10's with 33x12.5x15.

 

33 is the height
10.5 12.5 is the width
15 is the size of the rim it will fit.

 

I should have known that.....I thought the width and height numbers were the other way......doh!!!!

Yes, the 10.5" wide would be easier on the truck, mostly on gas mileage and stopping. 12.5 is 2" wider ( no sh*t ), but makes the tire alot larger thus heavier.
They look nice and would work well though, I'm thinking about that size.

 

Yeah, my big debate is whether or not to have the 15x8 or a 15x10 rim. A spindle and body lift is in the works, and was told a 15x10 rim would be the only fit for a fabtech kit. But I want to take it easy on my truck, 15x8's seem more reasonable....besides, a 10.5 width still will have a pretty wide wicked stance (that's what I'm shootin for)

The official size of a 33x10.5x15 is 33x10.5x15

15x8" rims will fit either a 10.5" tire or 12.5" tire. I've got 12.5s with 15x8s

If you don't have fender flares, the 10.5s would probably look just about perfect.

 

Do you have pics of your truck with them on?

Isn't having a 12.5 tire hard on a narrower 15x8 rim?

And yeah, my edge has the fender flares.

 

I have my 33x12.50s on a 7" wide. Normal wear and perfect on the road.

I recommend an 8" for a 12.50. a 10" will be hard on your wheel bearings.

 

12.50's have a wider footprint (better grippage) but the 10.50's are a good shot to go w/ if you just want bigger tires and not have to worry bout rubbing. i have the 33x10.50's w/ just a bl. they work alot better than the 12.50's would have, cause im almost rubbing at full lock already...plus backspacing has everything to do with how far your tires stick out.

 

But having a wider tire on a smaller 8" rim, wouldn't that create too much stress/pressure on the sidewalls?? Just wondering.

 

No. Some prefer it. in 33x12.50 i think they look better on an 8" wheel. On a 10" wheel they almost look square they look so wide and are so short of a tire.

I have 38x12.50's on 15x8" wheels if that means anything to your question.
