33x12.5 tires

I have a 2002 2wd 3.0 ranger with a TON of work done to it. I geared up the rear end, put a maxtrac 4 inch suspension lift with doetsch pre-runner shocks, intake and exhaust are after market and now its time for the tires.

I want some good 33 inch tires but have a few questions about tire and rim sizes:

1)will 33x12.5 fit on the stock rims that come with the xlt models
-if not then what size rime will

2)how much of a back spacing do I need on the rims in order not too rub.

3)Does anybody have pictures of their's so I can see.

4)what tires would be best for this truck. I drive about 20 miles daily on 55 mph roads but on the weekends I off-road race through mud and sand.

1) Your stock rims are either 15x7 or 16x7. You want either a 15x8 or 15x10.. or 16's or 17's.. whatever size you want. Size of rim could affect availability of tires and price.

2) You want between 3-4" backspacing. MOST rims come with 3.75" of backspacing. Some, like Mickey Thompson, come with 3.25" backspacing, meaning they stick out a little bit more.

3) Search, there are a crap ton of lifted trucks on 33's. It's almost standard on here to be running 33's.

4) You'll get 1000 different answers to this. For sand and mud, find a highly rated mud/sand tire. Read reviews on different websites and stuff.

I highly recommend you do some research. Don't cheap out on tires.. most of the time you get what you pay for, but just because a tire is pricey doesn't mean it's good either. That's why you shop around, read reviews. Searching on here is your best friend.

Based on what you do with the truck I would look for a set of MT's. Km2's and Mtr's are pretty popular but there are a lot of choices

Yes but thats just the list that would help the suspension and bigger tires get turning. I also have turbo setup, bored out engine, long travel shocks, full roll cage, cut out valves, and a ton of other physical mods I swap out on race day like fenders, bumpers, light bars and such

You should post pics of your truck and motor set up with specs. I'm interested to see it

When I get it back from the transmission shop I'll try to post some pics. I haven't figured out how on this website (or it's just not letting me) but every time I choose the picture my browser messes up and freezes. Hence why I don't have a profile pic yet

You can post pics using photobucket. Just copy and paste the IMG code.

It's a website that you can make an account on and upload pics to from your computer for free. There is a tread somewhere on here that explains exactly what to do. It's really easy

You'll probably want to look into what size gear ratio your current differential has to get a better idea of what type of driving characteristics putting bigger tires on your 3.0 will have on your truck.

Read the original post.. he said it's re-geared. Just didn't mention what he went with.

Out of all the pictures you must have of your truck you post one with you in it. What are you doing, following the Bruce Jenner process? Lol
