couple of questions about rims

what is the best way to get the crimp on weights off without seriously digging up the rim?

also, anyone know off hand what the alcoa center cap is made out of, plastic or metal?

This is the tool to do it to give you an idea. I have never taken them off any other way.

um there is a little set of pliars made to pull them off like this:

but all it is is the weight with the little metal tab that bends around the lip. the is a little hole on the tab to grab too.

without the pliers just pry the weight out away from the rim with a screwdriver or pliars, then just yank it out, pulling the little tab out from between the rim and the rubber. thats what i would do atleast. i hope im not confusing, its really not too complicated of a thing

Sorry to tell you but the damage is done when putting the weights on. I wouldn't advise pulling the weights.

Thats what we use at work. They are awesome for snapping valve stems too.

Take them off with that tool and then put on stick on weights. They look better too.

I have a set of alcoas that I am going to be cleaning up and I wanted them off for that. I tried getting at it with a screwdriver but that didn't work that well. thanks for the info on the center caps, guess I can't powder cost them.
