Air Pressure Sensor Question

my 07 ranger came with that system with pressure sensors mounted on the inside of the bead. DO i have to buy 4 more if i want aftermarket rims, or can i run them without?

the tpms for the ranger is strapped to the drum of the wheel by a metal band. and no you do not have to replace them if you get after market wheels they can be switched over.

if you can have them switched over then why worry about running without them... the tire place will switch them over when they take off and remount everything

yes you can run without them. the only thing that will happen is like you said the light will constantly be on. but i dont know why you wouldn't want to switch them over.

not sure of fords electrical systems, but i think jeeps tpms is in kahoots with the esc and when the light is on, it affects the driveblity of the vehicle. But yes you can switch the sensors over from the old to the new, most shops should have the equipment, but would be nice for them if you were to give them a heads up that you do have banded ones.

I could've sworn that the air pressure sensor had nothing to do with actual pressure. I thought that the computer measured the revolutions of the tires via ABS sensors and calculated it that way. Basically if one tire consistently turned slower it would set it off. Maybe I'm completely wrong but I think D94R might know something about this.

if you mount and balance your own tires its easy. first make sure you break the bead near the valve stem because the air sensor should be located opposite the valve stem. them all the need is a flat head screw driver to loosen the bands enough to where they fall of and then you just tighten them on your new wheels.

ok i found out. I blew a tire in DETRIOT!! AHHHH I HATE THEIR ROADS! but anyways, i put the spare on for like 70miles, a lil over what there supposed to be for but the light came on and flashed for 1min every 10min, until 30min came then it just stayed solid! so that ansered my question!
