stock tire vs. non stock?

stock tire vs. non stock?
OK, I've got a chance to buy 4 LT265/70R16 tires. My stock tires are LT245/75R16. I can't see where there is much difference in overall size. I know the 70 is wider than the 75. Guess the question is which one does what I want it to do. I 'd guess about 75% is paved highway, curvy with speed limits of 25 up to 60mph. Then there's te '01he 20% on dirt roads. Most of the subdivision roads are dirt as are many of the less traveled county roads. I am talking about 2 lane dirt roads. The last 5% would be on Forest Service roads, umm, no name roads, jeep trails, etc. I don't go mudding, competitive hill climbing, etc. Durning hunting season, or scouting I can definitely get into some tight spots. No problems yet.
My truck is stock but is a salvage vehicle. I found one on Ebay, but it got sold. Turns out the rebuild shop is in Denver. At the time we were traveling weekly to Denver. Managed to hook up with the shop. He was working on the
01 I purchased. For some reason, he either painted over or removed all of the labels one usually finds on driver's side panels, etc. He said it was a light rollover and he rebuilds to factory stock parts. Anyway it was a good deal, so we bought it. I don't regret it for a minute.
Back to tires, any reason not to use the 265/70 tire? If you go back to an old thread, https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=43635 you can see the tires.
Any help or info or input appreciated.
