Does anyone who's gone with the KM2's have them on a daily driven truck? I'm torn between going BFG AT or KM2. I play mostly in south florida sand and some mud but only on some weekends and maybe the occasional after work trip to a fishing hole before dark. But M-F I drive 50 miles round trip to and from work on I95 (65-75 mph). Not to worried about noise (I want to be able to talk in the truck but want traction too.) But I am concerned about tire wear of the KM2. I know people with the AT and if you take care of them (rotate and all) they last a good long while.

Anyways, anyone with KM's drive a lot of highway miles on them, how do they wear ?

I was wondering this same thing cause those km2's look bad*** i have 32" bfg at ko's and they do really well for lots of highway use

 

Hopefully Trent chimes in on this. He's running KM2's on his F-150 which is a heavier truck than ours so they would wear faster on his truck then they would on ours.

 

I went through the same thing recently. I figured since it's still my DD and I only wheel a few times a month tops the all terrains would suit my needs the most.

 

i have them on mine and its a dd in the summer. ive only got about 4,000 miles on them so far but they arent showing any wear yet. i drive over 30 miles a day to work and back

 

go with the km2s they dont wear like a mud tire and they are super smooth. i love mine. there ok for a DD

 

I've got 15k miles on my daily driver F150, they are 35x12.50R18 KM2's.
I rotate them every 3k miles and keep them at a pressure that allows good contact and they are wearing great. When I measured a weak or two ago I had just a hair over 3/4 tread left, still plenty deep. So if you're worried about wear, don't be. They wear just as good as, if not better than any other mud terrain I've used.

They were similarly priced (in my size) to Toyo Open Country M/Ts and Cooper STT's.
I think you may be able to pull 50k out of them, depends on your driving. I have always sold my tires once they got to half tread though, I don't know.

 

thats weird..cause ntwonline.com has 35's in the 15" for like 190 a pop...hard to beat that price..

 

i got 53k out of my orginal bfg mt.. so im sure the km2's are gonna be the same

 

I have 3kish on mine and they still look new. Do great in the sand, rain and regular pavement. Haven't had them in the mud yet though, need to do that sometime. The ride is great as well, the feel just like the ATs just louder. Highly recommend them

 

Basically, as good, maybe better, than the old KM's that EVERYONE has ran at one point or another. GREAT tires, I'm on my 4th set of KM's now, and KM2's are going on before winter.

Are any of you KM2er's siped? I'm only concerned with high speed standing water...I've had GREAT experience with unsiped KM's and MT/R's, just wondering how the KM2's compared. *GREAT meaning better than any all terrain I've ever owned..no hydroplaning.

mine arent siped but standing water isnt an issue at all, the KM2's handle standing water way better than my AT's did

 

I've hit puddles at normal speed 50-55 with no problems so far.

 

Awesome thanks for all the replys. I think I'm gonna go with a 3in Body lift and some 33" KM's then. I have run BFG AT's in the past on my old (83) F150 but never went the MT route. As long as I can get some life out of them it will be easier to justify to the wife LOL And should make it easier to get to some fishing holes and maybe even find some new ones !

No problems with standing water not siped. Getting tires siped never seemed to do much (that I noticed) at high speed, mostly getting started on wet pavement/snow/ice etc.
I do want to sipe them but I'll probably wait until my next set.

 

i have had mine for a while now and cant complain. maybe 15,000 miles on them... a little more then ten on my truck and a few thousand highway miles from my brothers truck. nothing about the wear is alarming. look new still. on average i normally rotate them every thousand miles. keep the air pressure right.

they have some extra siping on the first 7 or 8 32nds of the tread. havent worn through it yet. no problems with hydroplaning where i wasnt expecting it.

the MTZs were a few bucks more than BFGs and the Toyos were like $50 more a tire.

35x1250 KM2s are like $180 each last time i looked.

 

Yeah for a 18" wheel they're all around 300-320ish

 

A good friend of mine had 35x12.50 on his full size dodge. If I didnt see the tires you really would never know you have a set of mudders on it. The only time you feel them is when your at really really slow speeds. And even then there is only a slight vibration. He had Pro Comp Xterrains on there before and love them, but he said that the ride was sooo much worse with that directional tread pattern.

 

remind me not to get 18s. I can get 38" swampers on a 17 for that price.
