Tire size question ?

Tire size question ?
I will be installing the SL 4" Lift and have to decide which tire to run, they will be KM2s.
I believe the lift calls for 285x75x16s max but the 305x70x16s aren't too much bigger; about 0.9" wider but are called out at the same OD.
Has anyone used the 305 size tire using a SuperLift 4" Lift ?
Thanks a head of time.

It really depends on what wheels you are going to use. The stock wheels are only 7" wide, so a 305 is not going to fit well on stock wheels. And they might rub due to the backspacing.
An aftermarket wheel will have less backspacing so it will stick out farther. And with a 305 tire, you should have at least an 8" wheel.

Rims are : 16 x 8 w/4" BS
I think that is a little more than stock; so I think it means the tire/rim will be inward more than stock.
From what I seem on the BFG Charts, the 305 x 70 and the 285 x 75 for the KM2 are the same OD so that shouldn't be a problem the only thing in question is the width and the fitment with the 4" lift.
The 285x75x16 is 11.8" in width and the 305x70x16 is 12.5.
The SL kit calls out a 285 x 75 x 16 so I am just wondering.
thanks

it doesn't matter what the kit "calls out for" a tire size. You're not limited to a 285. Thats basically just like the factory saying u can only run a 245 75 16 but then if u crank your t-bars you can easily fit a 265 75 on there. It all has to do with your wheel, not so much the tire. the higher the backspacing is, the more chance of the wheel rubbing same goes with width of the rim. I've seen people running 35s on a superlift without a problem. hell ive seen people run 35s with only a 3" body lift
just an example...this isn't my truck, its Dan's. 4" superlift with 275 70R16 toyo m/t
I don't think 285s would look bad at all. Dans truck looks great imo

I know the difference is only an inch but I am already running more BS than stock.
Thanks for all of the input but I still like the idea of the 12+" tires over the 11+ but the THINKING goes on.
Now if I had a set of each and could try them out it would be be good.
Dan's truck looks OK so maybe the 285's will work out
