Cobra R Rims on 31ish tires?
Hey I was searching around and couldn't really find what I needed but I was wondering if any members had 16 or 17 inch cobra r rims or such on something like a stock height Edge with tires about the size of 31's? I think it would look pretty cool. Can this be done? What size of tires would I need? The wheels would be the stock bolt pattern of course.
http://ep.yimg.com/ip/I/mustangtuning_2050_87723762 Something like this wheel, black or chrome, or this color. http://ep.yimg.com/ip/I/mustangtuning_2048_191472986 or like this. https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...1117234642.jpg It might look somewhat like Wowak's avatar. Thanks, Roger |
I have 17" cobras with 29" tires, but my truck is dropped.
|
i would think to pull that off they would need to have some wheel spacers due to the fact car wheels have way more backspacing then truck wheels..
|
Oh okay so like 1.25" would work? Would this look good?
Thanks again. |
i think the cobra R wheels would look sweeeet!
|
Yeah I was thinking something unique, like those, but with some tires that would be a little bigger than stock and still had some meat on them lol. I'm looking at the black ones to go with the sonic blue. I know what I'll be saving for this summer.
Just wanted to add those wheels are both 17X9s too. |
just keep in mind tires for a 17" wheel are expensive.
|
DO IT!!!!!!! now
that will look sick but def gonna need spacers i believe those wheels have 4.75-5in bs and yea tires for 17s are a little more but not bad compared to 22s |

Any others that would work stock? I don't want them to look too small or like low profile. those wheels are the 4.5-5 in pattern too. They have a bunch of 4 lug ones too that looked beast. |
i'd say 265/75/17
comes out to about a 32 iirc?? |
Alright the 265/70/17's would be about 31.6.
255/75/17's would be about 32's. Lol my speedo would throw me off then. |
lol damn i hate metric tire sizes. FTL
|
Yeah me too. I used the TRS calculator FTW lol.
255/70/17's would be about 31.05 |
i'd say get as close to a 32 as you can
looks about perfect on stock 4x4/edge trucks! |
Yeah and with the 4.10s that wouldn't be too bad. I would just have to have my speedo calibrated or something. Or get used to it.
|
If you do it go with a 255/75/17 (32x10.50) which is the stock size tire that come on the 07+ Jeep Rubicons. Tirerack has the Jeep BFG km's which are different then the old KM's and the new KM2's for like 120 each.

Thanks for the tip. That could save me a few bucks.
Attachment 158173 This is 03edge's truck, which is somewhat the look I'm going for, but the spokes would be a bit thinner. That's a sweet truck. |
hey my truck! i say do it, i love the bigger wheel look with bigger tires. you just have to use wheel spacers for the stang rims. my only complaint is that i am kind of anal and check the torque on the spacers about every 3-4 weeks to make sure there tight. i just painted the calipers red and put some powerslot rotors on too, it really cleans up the look and adds to the wheels if there smaller spoked (something to consider)
|
i think it would look really sick if you could get them in correct back spacing and make the wheel drop back in kinda the Jewelers wheels. you know what i mean?

^ those don't even look like 17s!
The ones on the red truck almost make it look like a donk. |

Yeah it does look pretty good. I'm got on Photoshop and made those rims black.
Attachment 158070 Here it is black. Have the nuts ever been loose when you checked them? Never rubbed, but I never really offroaded it. These pictures are before I cranked the tbars as well. |
