I've got your generic Rock Crusher black steel rims, and I've noticed a huge difference in the weight against my old aluminum Alcoa's. I also went from a 32" tire to a 33" tire, so the weight is also found there too

Regear, regear, regear. I've got a 4.0L in my 02, and I'm still undergeared for the 33's with 4.10's. I gotta regear to 4.56's if I continue to run them.

Personally, I'd still probably have my Alcoa's on, if I didn't get the deal I did on the tires and rims... the steelies are just plain heavy.

I believe so... You aren't replacing a carrier so I you won't need the carrier bearings. You may wanna pick up an install kit just in case... they typically run about $100, but better safe than sorry.

I'll also recommend Yukon Gears. I put those in in January after my Torsen L/S grenaded on me and took out my R&P, the difference is phenominal.
