Ramming curbs? lol! I think that has more to do with popping beads/smashing rims and driving like a girl talking on a cell phone.

Yeah, there are lots of sharp rocks out where you are. Airing down significantly and running on rocks leaves the sidewalls exposed. BFG says that the KM2s have a 33% stiffer sidewall then the old school M/T, but that doesn't mean they won't tear if squeezed up against a sharp rock.
I have also heard of a few KM2 instances with torn sidewalls, but there are also a TON of people using them. It's kind of like the old Explorer roll-over fiasco. You heard about it all the time because there are so many out there.

But if I were in AZ, where there are lots of rocks and less mud I would probably go with the Goodyear MTR over the KM2.

 

The Exploder tire blowout roll over thing actually had nothing to do with the tires it was from ford suggesting tire pressure really low and then when you lose a couple psi then you are really low. Low tires have more resistance thus more heat making the sideways wear out and blow out faster. And because no one checks their tire pressure they were all way to low....

But any who I think I might go with the KM2s then...

You won't have a problem with the KM2s at places like Oregon Inlet and such.

 

im not sure if i agree, after having both the BFG AT and now the KM2's, id have to say the KM2's out perform the AT's in the sand and everywhere else off road for that matter.

 

oh ya people do it and they all work but ive expierenced both and ive also talked to alot of people and thats what ive gathered.....

ya they may idk ive never used km2's but ive always had better luck with a/t's on the sand cause they dont dig nearly as much as a m/t, we get pretty soft sand down here towards the end of the year and every little bit helps, the old timers around here always swear by a/t's and these are the guys running old 2wds down the beach passing stuck 4wd's lol, we have alot of sand savy people down here cause thats usually the only offroading most people do down here.........

 

Thats cause its our closest legal place to offroad that and the beach is beautiful the further you drive... I wish I could afford to live out of the back of my truck down there...

I know one big factor the affects how they do and how much you air down is the Load range... I know right now I have Bridgestone Dueler revo A/Ts tat are Load range E and I have to air down past 20 inorder to not plow through the sand... My old tires were just regular passenger tires and i could run on the beach no problem at 32

 

I have the MT/R's with Kevlar. I love them. There nice and quite on the road.You can hear a little wine at 40, but then it goes away. As for grip they grab anything. Deep snow, Dirt, Mud they do great in all, I havent tried them in sand though.

This is with 15x8 3 5/16 backspacing. No rub
