Looking for taller tires for 95 Ranger w/o lift

Below are links to pictures of my tires on my truck. What I want to do is when I get tires next (sometime this summer) I want to get tires that are a somewhat taller and more proportionate to my truck. Currently I have 4x 225/70/R14 Liberators (Wal-Mart specials) and they have served me great for 60,000 miles so far. From the looks of it I think i can go a bit taller, which I would like to do, but I don't want to cause any rubbing or grinding when I lock my wheels, etc. Does anyone know what size would be better for my size truck w/o causing any issues & interfering with my steering? I'm not looking for mudding tires or off-road tires because I value my gas mileage & also because i have a 2WD truck.

Thoughts/Comments/Suggestions?

Yeah.. to get tires mor eproportional.. I would also probably recommend some 255's on there myself.. that way you wont have to worry about any rubbing issues.. and it will stills avor yoru gas mileage.. help fill the wells up a bit as well.

OK but the 14 is the rim size, without changing rims I have to keep with 14 right? I would like to go a bit taller so 255 would be fine with me if they still fit. I also wonder the best way to repaint those "****ty" rims because they have alot of scratches as you can see from thepicture, I thought taping the tire off and brushing paint on some weekend would work, but i have no idea all that I should do.

i would just try to get some newer 15" rims off a newer ranger, you might even be able to find some with decent tires.

Your 14" rims could be 14x6 or 14x7 rims. Both of those are small for some of the tires being proposed. I'd say save up for rims and do the whole job right.
