mud tire

i just turned 16 and im getting tires for christmas and i was wonderin wat yall thought i should get i go 4miles to and from school everyday, so most of my riding is highway and offroad on the weekends, im lookin for the best mud tire with the best tread life Thank, Ethan

A good mud tire will only get between 20,000 and 30,000. I have Cooper Discoverer STT's currently. Two of them are just about bald and have about 35,000 miles on them. The other two probably still have about 5,000 miles left. If you don't wheel too hard I would look into an all terrain tire. Probably the bet for you.

My buddy has a set of BFG All Terrains that have 115,000 miles on them and still have a little bit of tread.

If you have your heart set on some m/t s get some bfg km or km2.

Cooke15 12-19-2008 06:57 AM

i will advise your parents to get goodyear mt/rs

dick cepek mud country.. sipped and are great in rain and snow so far

timpat92855 12-19-2008 11:01 AM

Hankook Dynapro MT. Not bad on the wallet, and work really well offroad and on road. I commute 100 miles a day back and forth to school and the tires are holding up alot better then I thought.

01blueranger 12-19-2008 11:12 AM

my choices were bfg mud terrain or firestone destination MT's so probaly one of the 2 or super swamper STSm what do yall kno about those

rizoss16 12-19-2008 11:38 AM

Destination M/T's are pretty amaizing, I had them on my tj and could make it through much of the trails and mud in 4x2 and throw it in 4x4 for the real mud pits, but they are amaizing in mud and on the trails, they constantly clean themselves out while slingin mud. But they are not so good in the rain on pavement, I have slid a couple times in the rain with no excessive force on the brakes. They are good in snow, in a big snow storm last year the highway was all backed up people sliding everywhere, I threw it in 4x4 and cuised around them on the side lol it was awesome. Sick tire though, very aggressive appearance too.

how much did they cost you and what size were they

pace51 12-19-2008 02:54 PM

Mickey Thompson Baja Claws They are good in mud dirt snow and have great tread life

chads02 12-19-2008 03:00 PM

TOYO OPEN COUNTRY MTS!!!! They are awesome in the mud, sand and snow. I have put 30000 on them and still have 50-55% on them.

How any of you buy or recommend any Firestone product is beyond me. I'll take quality everytime over individuality, especially when you consider equipment like tires that have a huge influence on safety.

Bfgs all terrains or either Mt (km or km2), highest quality you can buy other than michelin or bridgestone. Last a good long time too. Usually, when a lot of people use one certain thing for a long time, there's a reason. Which is why everyone has bfgs. Work good, high quality, comparable pricing. You know what to do!

hoghunter64 12-20-2008 11:43 AM

Do you have 2wd or 4wd? what kind of terrain are you looking to go through?

ColdNapalm 12-20-2008 11:50 AM

BFG M/Ts

01blueranger 12-20-2008 02:09 PM

2wd and mostly mud when I go offroad does anybody know about super swamper STS

timpat92855 12-20-2008 02:27 PM

swampers are not good on the road. Plus the are hard to keep balanced. BFGs are great, hankook has came a long way, summit mud dawgs are also very good.

Schlitter22 12-20-2008 04:54 PM

I have the pro comp mud terrains. They do really well in the mud, not loud at all in my truck. I've only got about 5,000 miles on em so I'm not sure about how they last. I really like mine.

06fx4jb83 12-20-2008 07:45 PM

mickey thompson mtzs or baja claws

06fx4jb83 12-20-2008 07:52 PM

my mtzs are awesome in the snow, i drove threw a 6 to 9 inch snow storm yesterday and i dont think any other mt can do better, and that also goes for mud

01blueranger 12-21-2008 05:42 AM

i live in the southeastern part of NC, its been 4 years since we've seen enough snow to worry about. we dont see much of that

PUNKROCKPILOT 12-21-2008 10:22 AM

My vote is for BFGs. The A/T are a little cheaper and last longer than the M/T. Since youre young id go for the A/T until you get real serious about wheeling.

99ranger4x4 12-21-2008 10:28 AM

I'm going to go in on the MTZs as well, i love them. Never had an issue.

They are siped and i spent my first winter ever in snow driving around with 35x1250 mud terrains and didn't have any issues in 2wd.
