I need to get a set of tires. Is it ok to go used or should I get new ones. My Ranger is a 2003 standard. Also which tire size should I get? 235/75 R 15 or 225/70 R 15

 

Everyone here has probably gone used at one time, look them over carefully, and check the date, I wouldn't buy anything over 4 years old.

Size wise, If used is what I was after and time was a factor, I would go with either size.

For new tires, I would probably go for which ever size I could get a better deal on.

Don't forget to check wrecking yards for tire and wheel sets, a few years ago I bought a set of factory aluminum rims/ center caps/ lug nuts with tires with about 85% tread, tires were only 2 years old, for my wife's mini van for $225. I just happened to be in the yard at the right time, Wasn't even looking for tires.
