Center caps for Mickey thompsons

I've got a set of Mickey Thompson classic II's and the center caps are starting to rot. I tried putting the OEM ford center caps on but couldn't get the clips to grab the OEM lug nuts. Anyone else running these wheels and needed to replace the center caps? Just want to see what my options are.

Had the same problem when I was running them. I went to the oem caps with no problems. Just make sure you are running the right lug nuts for the cap.

I did buy the OEM lugs for the caps but the lug nuts seem to Countersink into the wheels and the caps don't have anything to grab onto. If that makes sense. Ok they weren't ford brand lugs they were Forman but they looked exactly the same. But yours worked with the OEM center caps?

Ok. The lugs I have are

1/2-20 Wheel Cover Retaining Nut - 3/4 In. Hex, 1-1/4 in. Length.

The issue is that there's not enough room between the wheel and the retaining ring on the OEM center cap for it to snap on. I'm trying to find the same lug nuts that are 1 1/2 in. In length. That should give the center cap enough room to snap on. But I cans find them anywhere. The factory centers would look awesome on these wheels. There has to be a way to do this or a cross reference lug nut that will work. Any other ideas? I have no idea how you would've got this to work on your truck.

Ok so I'm gonna try to attach some files with my iPod to see if I can explain better what I'm trying to accomplish. Thanks to Vista 4.0 for all the assistance so far.

The first picture is what I'm starting with. Mickey Thompson classic 2 wheels and the factory center caps. Which are starting to fall apart. The second picture are the OEM lug nuts for the truck if you were going to run the factory center caps. They have that little retaining ring on them. The third picture is what I'm trying to accomplish but the lug nuts tighten too close to the wheels making the retaining ring on the lug nuts too close to the wheel itself and preventing the center cap from snapping on. In short, I think I need lug nuts that look just like these ones but have a longer shaft. Or if anyone else has any other ideas.

Ok so the only picture I can get to upload us the last one. Which is what I'm trying to accomplish.

There are two different styles on the back of those Ford center caps. The Ranger style attaches with 5 prongs and the other Explorer/Crown Vic style attaches with 3 prongs and uses metal clips to attach. Is that the issue?

Nope shouldn't be the issue. I have the 3 different sets on mine now. OldEric style from 98. New style with both 3 clips and 5 clips. It's gotta be his lugs
