spedo recalabration???

Icon9 spedo recalabration???

so i put smaller tires on my truck due to lowering it, and my spedo is running 10 mph off so now i can only got 80mph before my gov kicks in and it really sucks!!! does any know how much it cost to get it recalibrate? or know how i can do it cheap lol

Correction for tire diameter and axle ratio is done in the PCM so requires a dealer calibration tool to reset. There are built in limits as to how far a dealer can change it though. Assuming that they are willing/able to do so, expect to pay roughly $100 or so.

You can also get a recalibration box to wire into the VSS yourself. These generally cost $200 or less.

I had a local dealer reprogram my old Ranger and they only charged 1/2 an hour labor, which was a little over $40. Be prepared to pay around $100 though. That is supposed to be the minimum charge for that kind of work.

dang! i just figured it would be a very simple fix ya know. but now i guess im going to deal with it and just buy a programmer that will let me change it myself. they do make those right?

yea but you might leave footprints in the computer

means that if the dealer goes into the computer to pull a code or does an emissons monitor rediness test they will see that something was changed...i know yours isnt under warrenty but if you have a new truck that is and something goes wrong with it...the second they see the footprints the warrenty is voided

should be...most tuners have a way to return everything to factory...id do that before it goes in just to be safe
