Roddy 11-21-2008 05:01 PM

Then you have not yet seen"pretty serious snow".
Up here we've had 4 feet in 6 hours and the plows couldn't see to work.
You aint driving 40mph through that.

ns_red7 11-21-2008 06:35 PM

We got over 2 meters of snow last year. I drove all over the place, trails and snowmobile trails all winter. Easily pushed through snow up to bumper level. Went through lots of long drifts where snow was headlight level. All on bf all terrains. If you can find a better tire in snow, you have just found an amazing tire... The bf ats really kick a$$.

Even in spring when the snow was packy ice granules, 4 low and 2nd gear, just let em spin enough to keep the tread clear and you're golden.

DO NOT BUY A SET OF SNOW TIRES! They are not worth it. Remember not nly do you have to buy them and mount them, but in the spring you will need to pay to have them switched back. Just buy your self a set of A/T's and use them year round.

unless youre smart enough to scour craigslist or the junkyard for an extra set of rims ... or if you have aftermarket rims get snow tires on your stocks

After going wheeling in the snow today with my BFGs, I would never own another all terrain. They pushed me up the mountain every time, even where I thought I would have to get pulled up. VERY IMPRESSED.

Melt 11-21-2008 07:31 PM

where the pics at ... snow wheelin FTW

04blackedge 11-21-2008 07:35 PM

I'll upload them in a little, waiting to get the rest from my buddy.

rolsmojave3 11-22-2008 02:34 PM

Not as far as they took me.

ns_red7 11-22-2008 04:35 PM

I just got home from work and my driveway is knee deep snow and the plow put a good Berm at the end, easily went through it. Mud terrains are a lot better than I expected on the greasy stuff and absolutely rock in deep stuff. All around the ats are a better snow tire due to the better on road snow traction.

malydeen 11-22-2008 09:21 PM

I never said snow tires were bad, I just said they are not worth the money when you can get a set of A/T's for a bit more and run them year round.

Also there are many all season and touring tires that have a "severe service rating (ssr)". And then there are even more tires that have a M+S (mud and snow) rating.

Yes on cars they make sense but on trucks I think they are a waste of money.

snow tires FTL....

are you a moron? It doesn't matter how fast you can go it how well you can stop.

Melt 11-22-2008 09:32 PM

i think his statement about doing 40 mph in the snow was a testament to acceleration rather than ability to stop

and i guess im even dumber than he is for doing 50 in chain conditions in an acura integra on z-rated tires

Wow, you are a ****ing idiot. How well do you think a 2wd light truck is going to do in the snow, let alone deep snow?

There is a reason they make 4wd trucks. Its because they are proven better in off road situations as well as snow.

You are quite possibly the dumbest mother ****er on the face of this planet and with out a doubt on this forum.

By the way... the truck in your avatar is a piece of ****. Why dont you stop running your mouth and go get something better you chino-hills living piece of ****.

Youre ignorant.

You built your piece of **** to do what you wanted and I built mine for what I wanted, whats your point?. As far as it costing less, well you have a point... thats because yours is old and used.

At least mine is worth something.
