So many to chose from

i have ambitions (probably more like pipe dreams) to have a nice ranger with a lift and 4WD, but there are serious complications with that... that's not what i am here for though. i was wondering what type of tire you guys would recommend... i am thinking that i would have 2 sets , one for hi-way use and longevity and one for off road. i am open to suggestions for both.

I like the government tread wear rating on Toyo H/T's for on road, and seem to look nice. thoughts, this would be a high life daily commuter.

for off-road, i have heard nothing but good things about Toyo M/T's and i like their tread design.

I am not brand loyal, especially to a brand that i have never actually had products from, but i have just heard good things from them.

Toyo M/Ts probably cost about as much as your truck is worth. They're pretty pricey.

Check out Kumho M/Ts. Loooong tread life, respectable tread design and very good offroad. If they make a size small enough for your truck

Stoic Guardian Jul 22, 2010 01:51 PM

ah, this was after a lift and a 5.0 engine swap

Red_Ak_Ranger Jul 22, 2010 01:56 PM

oh well uhh, M/Ts if you're going to do a bunch of work. Seems best choice. Any companies M/Ts are great really.

Mickey MTZ's are nice too.

Was, not now though. I would definitely get them again if I wanted a mud terrain.

Stoic Guardian Jul 22, 2010 11:30 PM

how's the tread wear?
and:
on road traction
snow
sand
trail
mud
rock.

i know that that set is everywhere, but it is a good list

KLC Jul 22, 2010 11:39 PM

I was impressed with all the above. I had about 1,500 miles on them and they looked brand new.

Stoic Guardian Jul 22, 2010 11:45 PM

What made you get rid of them so soon?

KLC Jul 22, 2010 11:52 PM

Wanted my smooth, quiet ride back. MTZ's are smooth and quiet for a mud terrain, but don't come close to an all terrain.

Stoic Guardian Jul 23, 2010 12:10 AM

so what did you switch to? Toyo A/T's? Wild Country XTX? just hoping to guess it. :P

KLC Jul 23, 2010 12:13 AM

The new Falken AT that just came out. I love them!

Stoic Guardian Jul 23, 2010 12:32 AM

wild peak, or high country

Redneckstone Jul 23, 2010 08:54 AM

I LOVE my toyo MT and would honestly get another set they ride so nice for a MT

Stoic Guardian Jul 23, 2010 06:52 PM

quiet ride? good traction?

andddrew says Jul 23, 2010 08:56 PM

I just got a set of toyo open country a/t and i LOVE THEM i know its not a MT but i highly respect toyo brand!

Stoic Guardian Jul 23, 2010 09:23 PM

prolly has a better tread life and is much quieter than M/Ts. why do you like TOYO so much

well it started off just hearing nothing but great things about TOYO, then when i purchased my toyo's i fell in love. thats basically it, like other people said if you stick with the name brands you really can't go wrong.

you guys love thies tires, but have nothing about the traction in different conditions, or the tread life...

Sorry to thread jack but im considering these my self, have you had them off road at all? If so how do they perform and have u had any other AT's to compare them too.

KLC Jul 23, 2010 11:30 PM

Falken WildPeak AT’s are guaranteed to last at least 50,000 miles. I just got them, but am very impressed with their performance in a variety of terrains. Obviously, being an AT, they are not ideal for mud.
