So my dad says, Wrangler RT/s 255/70/16 for $320

So dad calls the local flea market tire guy. he says hes got a set of 255/70/16 of Goodyear Wrangler RTS tires for $320. says their take off's, whatever that means. Anyways, the tires im hoping to get my paws onto are $420 - shipped. dads all hot on the rts tires, says their "great" and goodyear is an "excellent tire" just goes to show, after 25 yrs, dad still doesnt listen to a phucking thing i have to say

Tell him I said those tires suck! I had them and didn't like them, no traction amd it's a rougher ride than my BFG's.

I will never let anyone I love ride on Goodyears, I have my reasons but they suck. Aside from my issues with them I got to say the RT/s are street tires! Why they try and pass them off as allterrain is beyond me.

holly **** man... the wranglers are serously the biggest piece of **** ever made!! fight him to the death not to pick those pieces of **** up! oh and take-offs are if a customer brings his/her truck in, gets new tires installed, and dosent want the old ones; the old ones are sold discounted like used tires

well i told dad theres three options here since he his splurging 50% of the tire cost.
1) i get the tires i picked out - or another set if i like them
2) i buy a used tire and wheel from a junk yeard and just bolt it on - hes dead set against this
3) i put my spare on, and, when my front differential is fubard, ill just junk the truck and he can deal with ford, since the truck is in his name.

or
4) ill drive the bald tire even after i fail inspection, and if when i get a ticket he can pay for it, and when i smash up the truck this winter for having a bald tire, ill just have it towed to the junk yard and walk away.

The Goodyears are horrible tires. Those ones that you are looking at, the "takes offs" meaning they were taken off someone elses vehicle, they are used. Get yourself a set of BFG AT's They are great in all weather conditions and will last to about 40k miles safely and go bald at 50k.

If your dad is paying half then sell some stuff to make up the difference.

I discussed this EXACT thing with my chiropractor who said, and I quote "Going to work at this time coulbe be detrimental to your health, and i highly recommend you dont do it"

however, the money situation is starting to get ugly. and my dad is driving me up a wall. if i move out, he goes into a nursing home and i lose the property, and while that may be just dandy for alot of people, it aint dandy for me.

but, im seriously thinking about going back to work against doctors orders, and if i end up a cripple oh well, i have spoken to friends and they say i can get "herbal" medications if I need them, which at this point is a real possibility.

edit: and another thing I want to make perfectly clear. this truck maybe in my dads name, however I have paid for EVERYTHING on it. and since my accident my dad is helping me stay afloat with it, tho it is a lease and if we turn it in early both our credit is fubard. but, this is my truck. i wash it, i wax it and i take VERY good care of it. ask D if he has ever seen it remotely "dirty"

and unless you have ever been intimately involved in a situation where you have taken care of someone who is terminally ill, yet you care about alot, such as a parent, where all your friends and family have turned ur back on you and the person your taking care of, dont pass judgement. cause unless u have been in a similar situation, your just a poser.

I say get the goodyears even though they arent the best it seems like its prob the best thing to do instead of messing up your truck or failing inspection and casuing problems with the dad. Its not like your paying full price for them since your going half with your dad. Just run them for a while and when you have the money get the tires you want. you wont be out that much

If it is just one tire that is bad, why not just get a cheapo new replacement from Pep Boys or Wal Mart to pass inspection? Worry about getting the tires you really want later on when you can afford to.

I actually gave away my factory wheels and tires with all of.. 3500 miles on them LOL!

I have the rsas on my stang and i love them. I would never own another set on RT/S if they were the last tire on earth

I have owned several sets of goodyear of different types and I have never owned a set that didn't seperate at one time or another with the exception of my Explorer, but the RT/S are only a couple months old, give it time they will. I have Regatta 2's on the Caddy (My tire guy @ the dealership I wokred at talked me into them ) that have less than 5000 miles on them and I have sent two back for tread seperation under warranty and now all of them including the new ones are dry rotted and cracking. I Have had tires come apart on me on the highway and if I wasn't on my game I would have lost it. I will never buy another Goodyear product again. I racked the first couple up to bad tires, but every time I go back I get burned. Never had one problem with Michelins, BFG, or Firestone/bridgestone.

I'd buy 4 off-brands like DEAN (cooper) or Mohawk(yokohama) before I'd spend
more than 10$ ea on RT/S
