How do brakes get hurt by running steel wheels??

The only difference is a little heavier wheel, just adjust your braking with that in mind and you really shouldn't see any difference in stock.

Thats a given for all steel wheels and/or larger tires....more unsprung weight and rolling mass.

so to basically sum this up, with ANY wheel/tire combo you will need to adjust your braking to compensate for extra wieght and mass. so the wheels will not effect how long your brakes last and work, only your driving will.

the wheels affect your driving...

.....I highly doubt that. They aren't so heavy that they slow your truck down that much. How much do they weigh a piece?

Woods-Rider 04-16-2009 07:28 PM

I have steel streetlocks and i didnt notice a difference in acceleration or braking when switching from stocker aluminums. i am in the market for aluminums though because my settlies are bent and rusted and just want a new look. nothing wrong with steelies in general though and they are WAY cheaper. i picked mine up for $30 each new for 15x8s.

kenny_216 04-20-2009 06:31 PM

come on guys gas is down to less than $2 a gallon, i dont really care about the mileage. i want to go with sum black steel rims cuz they are cheap and they look good on rangers. its not like im racing john force down the drag strip or trying to go from 130 to 25 into a corner really fast.

NVRDONE 04-20-2009 06:36 PM

Then soft 8's are perfect. Finially got around to polishing mine, I love them again!

lol

maybe my truck is just old, tired and lazy and doesnt like lugging heavy wheels around all day. Hasn't complained once since going to the MT Classics.
