Steel Rims Vs Aluminum Rims

Im in the market for some new rims. Thinking im going to go with a 15x8. I found a set of black crager rims on CL with 4 in back spacing.

Could some one explain the hole back spacing thing.

I know the steel rim weigh more than the aluminum rim, but what is better?

I like aluminum rims better. Steel just rusts too quickly in salty winters. Aluminum will oxidize and pit, but I used ZoopSeal on mine and they have yet to do this. Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface to the edge of the inboard side of the wheel. I believe ranger wheels are usually 3.75 inch backspacing but don't hold me to that.

4" backspacing will sit you just about flush with the fender flares(assuming you have them). Only way id buy steel wheels in Ohio is if they were practically giving them away. There only $40 each at summit.

stock ranger bs is 4.5". most 15x8 recommended size is 3.75" bs with -19mm offset. with 3.31" bs the wheel will stick out 1.2" further then stock. just measure it up and see how far theyll stick out past the body
