Okay I went to the tire place and looked at some BFG's the price was $478 and my dad was with me...anyways the price is a little over budget right now so he said since i just became a senior at HS that he would get them for me near christmas kinda early graduation-christmas gift he said latter I would get some other stuff...but im ok w/ that....Well heres the tires I like:*not including the BFGs

uhhhhh, each of those tires are for a different purpose, you cant really compare them. decide what your truck is mainly used for and choose accordingly. personally im a bridgestone fan

i dont know anything about any of those besides the BFG's so i can only say that they are some very good tires

haha, so you want the magical tire?? jk man, you have to pick whats MOST important to you. on my ranger FX4, i went with dueler REVOs, an AT tire. they did well off road, but i did most of my driving on road and in rain, so the revo was a perfect match for me. if you want quiet, you wont like any mud tires. the BFG AT KOs make a loud hum at low speeds, that will probably bother you. on the other hand the proxes will be great on the road, but youll get stuck if you drive in the grass!! i have some wide michelin cross terrains on my F150, an SUV tire. they are very quiet (no noise at all actually) and great on the road, but i almost got stuck twice at the GA meet, once in a dirt lot, the other time in a small mud puddle. its all give and take, you have to set your priorities

you keep saying this i have never heard one bit of noice from my tires not have the other trucks i ride in with these tires and there all different sizes.....

 

maybe youre just used to it then, it sticks out like a sore thumb to me when i ride in friends trucks, but im used to michelin SUV tires, so, who knows!

 

as a side note i would never say anything bad about a product unless i had first hand knowledge. just so you know im not talking out my

 

i drive all kinda of vehicals with stock tires and offroad tires my BFG a/ts are as quite as my dads michelin tires on his F-150. go get a set of mudders and realize how ****ing loud tires really can be and then go back to a/t's i have never had anyone COMPLAIN about BFG A/T tires having a hum but you...interesting


edit never sayed you where talking out your *** i have seen your exploder. ever think you had a bad tire that was out of round bad tires happen to do that...you can also have a bad tire and look at it and never tell....

4 bad tires? doubtful.... i wont argue any more, if people value my opinion, they will take note, if they dont, i dont really care. why would i lie?

By the way I have never heard noises from the tires either, I think but its been a long time.

 

I too have liked the BFT AT's that were stock on my truck. There is some road noise, but it is nothing even remotely like I have seen/heard w/ a MT. (I should note that this observation is based on other people's trucks, I've never driven a set of MT's on a Ranger.)

I've heard horrible things about the latest MT's for street use. Some users have gone as far as to call them dangerous in the rain on paved surfaces. I would think you would want to stay away from a dedicated MT (like the BFG MT) unless you were doing a LOT of off-roading and not as much on-roading.

The AT's strike me as a happy balance. My favorite feature of the AT's on my truck is their snow performance. I periodically think about getting another set of rims fitted w/ all-season radials (street tire) for summer just to save the tread on my AT's for winter.

 

I rear ended a girl with my Coopers because i highdroplaned in this HEAVY rain storm i couldnt steer or stop, i have never had the problem with my BFG's I am completely sold on these tires. i was down right affraid of my coopers when it rained for a long time...it was a fun ride.

 

In your ranger?

 

well I have both BFG AT & MT tires for LIL BLUE
the AT are quiet, but not silent
the MT are much louder on the road
so far the MT have performed VERY well off road and have polite on road manners
no they do not grip the road as well as the AT tires, the big lugs and large voids attest to that
in the rain they are OK, but again not as good as the AT tire
no chunking, but they did seem to flat spot - nothing a half hour on the highway did not correct
I do not drive the truck much in the summer so the flat spotting was expected
heck, the Michellin energy tires on the Honda flat spot after 3 days of sitting (or over night in the cold)

unless you are a dedicated off road driver - as in go most every week I would get an AT tire
the MT will wear too fast, is not as stable on road, and will need a rotation every 3-5 thousand miles to get optimal wear
the AT will have great road manners, be excellent in the snow, do most everything you need off road (except clear sticky mud)
they will be a much better all around choice for your Ranger
the agressive tread of the BFG AT KO is a great choice and they do look excellent on a Ranger
