And the tire search begins

Getting my tax return soon, figured I'd put part of it towards some nice new tires. Previously my truck has always gotten used tires that usually ride like crap.

Has to be an AT, or a very mild mud terrain. And my budget for 4 tires is around 1000 bucks. Don't really want to go much higher then that. Looking for good tread life. Yet somewhat decent offroad.

Thanks

Nitto Terra Grapplers!

Tys 4x4 FTW 01-28-2012 03:39 PM

Right now I'm looking at the falken rocky mountain ats. Reading a lot of good reviews. And puts me under 1k for 4 in 315/70/17.

bravetitan24 01-28-2012 03:52 PM

I've had my Falkens for about 13k miles and have been very impressed with them so far. Very good on and off road and they've worn really well too!

morris 01-28-2012 04:26 PM

I'd say duras but I paid $880 for 31"s.

Have you looked up general grabbers?

djfllmn 01-28-2012 04:27 PM

^damn i only paid 600 something

98liftedranger 01-28-2012 05:22 PM

Kris got me hooked on the Nitto's and I will be getting a set soon.

20102wdRanger 01-28-2012 05:48 PM

I just priced out 31's in the BFGoodrich $205 a piece intstalled and balanced in southern Ontario there the tread life brand Ive been told of and also have a good hwy ride and still look aggressive! Any one with any opinions on that??

I liked them, but recommend the Nittos instead.

I was going to get the duratracs, but now I'm getting the new cooper ATPs from discount tire.
$400 cheaper for the set, and still made in America.

Aww, come on. You only live once.

Tys 4x4 FTW 01-28-2012 07:18 PM

lol if i planned on having it for another couple of years, I would spend the coin, but I just want something decent that will hold me over till it goes.

Don't get me wrong, I love the nittos, Dad had them on his truck. They performed great. And look great.

Ranger_Guy15 01-28-2012 07:19 PM

I would say duratracs or the nitto trail grapplers.

The more you spend now, the more you get back when you sell it. Who wants to buy a sick Ranger with some no-name AT's?

who cares on what I get back. I've already lost my ass in all I've put into it. My resale is the last thing on my mind lol. And i'll probably trade it in anyways.
