TPMS question
If I put a set of rims on my tpms equipped 07 and they don't have the sensors, am I going to have a light on my dash on? Is there any way to disable this warning?
Last question: what year did the tpms show up on rangers...?

I believe 07 is the first year for the sensors, someone please correct me if I am wrong. Also, as far as I have heard, you cannot disable the sensor with a tuner or any aftermarket tricks. Of course this information could be out dated, please someone correct if I am wrong.

You will have the light, and I have yet to see a way to disable it with the IDS. (pull the bulb lol)
You can use your TPMS sensors on you current wheels, and transfer them over, and they will work. You will need new clamps, but its up to you if you want to be creative and use somthing cheap like wire. Hey it works, those clamps are like 15 bucks each.

What a pain in the azz. I googled tpms removal and it showed threads from many different forums, apparently there is a lot of people who have this issue. There should be a way to disable it...

It was put in place for every automaker for a reason. People are dumb, drive on under inflated tires, lose control of have a blow of and people die and property is damaged. Every vehicle built after Sept 07 is required to have them.
I'll have to admit that the tpms saved not only a tire, but probably my fender. I was at hiway speeds when the light came on. The tire was losing air fast. That sensor gave me time to pull over and watch it finish going flat. The other option was going flat at hiway speeds.

I don't really care to discuss the merits of this system. I just want to disable it so my other rims with the mud terrains on them don't set off a light.
Does anyone know if this is a reqiurement on this side of the border?

They are now required in the United States. It was a phased-in requirement. For 2006, 20% of a manufacturers vehicles sold in the U.S. must have been equipped. In 2007, it was 70%. And for 2008, it is now 100%.
The decent tire shops are all working with these now. When you get your rims, have sensors put on them. That's the best you can do.
I actually like this system because I like knowing when a tire is going flat, particularly in off road situations where you often can't tell a tire is flat until you get on more solid ground. I wouldn't disable it, but that's my opinion.
