always the last to know..

Did an oil change today, bought the same filter last month that I've been buying since I got my XLT new in 2007 with the 2.3 4 cylinder. When I took it out of the box today.....it shrunk!!! Motor Crafts' FL-400s is now and inch shorted, I didn't notice the very small blurp on the side of the box stating its new size. I guess paying more for less is going wild all over. I hate small filters, Why? I don't get it.

Yeah its been like that for a few months now. They came up with a more efficient filtering media, why continue making the same big size when you can make it smaller and work just as well if not better?

Did I miss something - Isn't the correct Motorcraft PN actually FL-910, for the '07 2.3?

I bought the truck new and the oil filter I took off , everything was written in French! I called a parts guy I know at a Ford dealership and he said that # FL-400s is what they put on after a first oil change on that motor. Its much longer then the first one and it seems to me that bigger is always better when it comes to an oil filter. I bought the filter last month and did the oil change yesterday and it is an inch shorter then the last one I put on. There was a small blurb on the side of the box over the picture "new size" "same performance" same b.s. Make it smaller but keep it at the same price. Like a pack of gum is now 5 sticks instead of 7...but we kept the price down. At least with a gallon of gas, you still get a gallon...sorry doing some venting....
Thanks,
