Gearing?

Ok I see a lot of people talking about "regearing" their trucks. I was wondering what this is and how to do it. What's could it be for and could a super nub like me do it at home easily?

A super newb definitely shouldn't attempt a regear unless someone is with you that KNOWS how to do it. Regear is changing the ring and pinion gears in the differential. Allows for quicker acceleration, or "regaining" low end power after a drastic or change in tire height. Trade off is higher rpm while cruising, which usually is offset by larger tires, the reason for the regear.
