new (bigger) tires, gearing

Okay, I've already done some searching here and at RPS. I have most of my aswers, but need everything confirmend

- My truck is a 98, stock height, 5-speed, 2wd 3.0.

- I have an old YJ that I'm not driving any longer. Right before I parked it I gave her some new 31x10.5" ATs. The tires have less than 10 000 kilometers on them and I'd like to use them still. My 31s should fit without rubbing, correct? To throw them on my Ranger I'll get some new 15x7 or 15x8 rims, since the backspacing on the Jeep's gambler rims is too much for Rangers.

- I have some new Goodyear snow tires mounted right now on my stock 14" rims, and I want to use these next winter. When I go to 31s am I going to want to regear? 31x10.5x15 is a big change from 225/70/14.

PS ... any pics of stock trucks on 31s?

you shouldnt have to regear with 31's , I think 33's is where you should start worring about that. if you wanted to go to 4.10's it's not gonna hurt you except a lil MPG but eh...

if you have the money though and think you might ever go bigger, you might as well wanna knock it out right now.

you will want 4.10s with the 31s, and the 31s most likely will rub on your 97 2wd. the 4x4s are 2 inchs higher stock which allow sqeezing in the 31s stock. with your 97 though you have a nice TIB front suspension which would allow you to get about 2 inchs of height with some spacers... then a set of explorer rear leafs will bump up your rear end probly an inch to an inch and a half...

oops, thought I read 97, well with a 98 if you dont have the edge package then 31s wont fit because it is the same height as the 97 2wd that i was originally thinking you had. but if you get it up about 2 inchs with say explorer leafs in the rear, or possibly add-a-leafs, or extended shackles, or even blocks, and then maybe a spindle lift in the front (or possibly the coils they have for the 98+ 2wd with coils, havent really heard much good or bad about those) then you should be able to get 31s in there. as for gears, check what you have now, with 3.73s you may be ok, but 4.10s would feel the best with 31s and that 3.0
