Turns out, they only needed to get it reflashed.

What it sounds like to me is, they couldn't troubleshoot it, bought a new PCM, didn't fix the problem, got the old PCM back, and are trying to figure it out...

Raising this from the dead but did you ever find out what the issue was? I'm having this same problem...

his ranger is long gone,may be the reason why he sold it.
