PCM reset

ok i have gotten the diagnosis back after gettin the might morphing red power ranger back from the code machine thingy. to put it bluntly short of a new engine, i have a new transmission, new coil, i am putting new shocks on all four corners, and new front ball joints and lower control arms. but there is a check engine light on this bugger and after putting it on a really nice code reader there are several codes regarding the transmission, an 02 sensor, running lean, etc the guy at the shop states that only a dealership can "flash" the pcm / ecm to get those codes reset and everything back to normal?

you have your topic for the day enjoy!

I'm not sure about that.
You can clear codes with just about any hand held tuner.Even if it is not locked to your vehicle.
So if you know someone with a OBD II compatible tuner have them clear the codes for you.
When I was tuning my truck for nitrous I had it throw some codes for being to rich.Once I got everything dialed in I simply cleared the codes with a hand held and have had no problems since.

Somebody else might know of a place that will clear codes for you but I would try to avoid the dealership.I think it would be pricey.

Good luck
Tony

trust me i dont want to go to a dealership. it just seems that the mechanics around here that have the code readers are just as pricey. i might as well get it done right for the same price.

you can reset everything to default y disconnecting the battery and hold the terminals together for 1 min and should clear codes and KAM. PCM parameters will be reset to default.
