Radaitors: Auto vs Manual

So I have a 2001 Ranger Edge. The radiator failed on me. I had to get a new one quick so I can get to work. Ford wanted $550 + a week or two. My local NAPA had ONE left and it was for an Automatic tranny. I got it and installed it. The only problem is that the return line and the bottom half is cool but the top half is hot. Yet the temp gauge is just fine. Thermostat opened just fine.

Am I missing something?

Isn't that what it should be doing? The coolant should be entering the rad hot and coming out the bottom cooler.

Yes, but not ice cold ish.. On the old one you could feel warmth. This one nada. Bottom half is ice cold. Took awhile for the radiator cap to get warm. Temp gauge normal.

As if

A) Bottom half is not used?
B) Its working too good?
C) Clog somewhere?
