Fixed intermittent high idle with TPS "adjustment"
This was a super easy fix for a problem I've been trying to diagnose for a few months. Basically, because of the mounting hardware used to fix the TPS to the throttle body it is possible to rotate the TPS about 1/16" either direction. When I replaced it I just centered it and called it good. If you use this play to turn the TPS clockwise, it begins to engage the sensor and the PCM sees a slightly higher voltage from it. This causes it to think the driver is lightly pressing the gas pedal. If you turn the TPS as far counterclockwise as possible, it prevents this. I guess when I centered it the TPS was still slightly engaged. This causes 2 issues, a intermittent hard start that felt like trying to start it with your foot on the gas(duh, clue), and a intermittent high idle at around 1k rpm.
Instantly fixed my idle, no more creep up to 1k rpm. No more hard starts, starts perfect every time. Been driving it for a week now and it hasn't done either once. If anyone replaces the TPS make sure it's pushed as far counterclockwise as possible.
