Max Speed of your Ranger.

When I had my 2002 Edge with the 3.Slow, the max I hit was on the toll road between Oklahoma City and Wichita Falls (where the speed limit was 85). I maxed the speed to the governor, and that truck was shaking so badly I thought it was fall apart! The Ranger as is is not designed for speed, no question about that!

When I was younger and less concerned for my wellbeing, I raced Leo from this forum in my '03 Edge 4.0 5 speed, with e-fan, bamachips programmer, Volant or airaid intake(can't remember which I had at the time), and Gibson exhaust. It had a dyno verified 195hp and 219tq. We were running down I-20 in Dallas and I had the speedo maxed out at 120mph while Leo was right with me or slightly pulling on me. Scary stuff but 10yrs makes you realize the ignorance of your youth.
And no, that was not the fastest I have ever been in a street vehicle but it was the fastest I ever went in the Ranger I had.
Oh, and if I had to guess, a guy named Djaye that used to hang around here has probably gone the fastest in an edge-gen ranger. That dude was extreme.

And I'm the jerk in that big rig that will cross over the fog line to throw sand and rocks at the front of your car and windshield with my tires because you're following to close..

If you're out there trying to cause traffic pileups on freeways that could get a bunch of people killed, (and bragging about it on the internet, no less!) you should be behind bars. That simple.

If you're close enough behind me to be getting any benefit of drafting, you're following to close.
Now if you're 5 or 6 car lengths behind and just using me as a pace vehicle, I have no problem with that.

Who said anything about drafting? Assumption after assumption. What I do is drive in the right-hand lane at a speed that burns less gas. I find a truck that's going about the speed I want to go, and I match it. This means I'm not interfering with anyone else who wants to go faster. There are other lanes for that. I'm not tailgating. I'm not "drafting". I'm just going down the damned road. Horrible, I know.

I'm very late to this party.
With my "Still New to Me" (today is Day #11) '05 FX4 I had to touch 80 mph whilst returning home from a 640 mile (round trip) refrigerator moving run.
I did this with NO FRIDGE in the trucklette.
As a superb contrast, the fellow I dropped the old fridges off to (appliance refurbishing / gas recycling etc.) lives in a "Going to Amish" community.
As the old population dies off it's nice to see the Amish (or anyone else) moving in and farming the small farms. Otherwise the old farms just go into disuse. Sad.

I'm gonna call bull on some of these. Especially if its not stock. I only have 33's on my ranger and its 5-10mph off depending how fast I'm going. Around 65mph I get the death shake, I sure as hell ain't going anything above 75 unless I have a death wish. Plus the ole 4.0L isn't necessarily racecar material. Even if you think you're going fast, if it's modified, you're not going as fast as you think.
And before I get chewed out, yes I have had an alignment done and nothing is wrong with my car. V6's just aren't supposed to turn chunky tires.

Fastest I've gone has been 110 MPH with my super charged 4.0 SOHC. That is with the rear O2 sensors still enabled.
The O2 sensors make the engine start dumping fuel (run rich) to keep the cats for over temping and burning up, which kills power. I leave them enabled as a safe guard so I don't melt my motor. Most performance tunes will disable them.
I also just got new tires and the speed rating for them is 100 MPH. I will probably turn back on the governor, since I need to recalibrate the speedo for the larger tires.
